Jill Atkin
Jill graduated from the University of Glasgow with a Merit in medicine in 1994.
Born, brought up and schooled in Saddleworth and Oldham, she moved back to the area in 2004 while her children were toddlers. She started working part time at the local vets and remained there caring for patients in her local community until the opportunity arose in 2021 to join what she describes as the ‘inspirational’ ARC team.
Jill’s clinical interests have been in ophthalmology and acupuncture for many years, and more recently also in physical therapy and rehabilitation. She completed the University of Tennessee Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner programme in August 2021, including a practical externship with Dr Angela Martins’ amazing neuro-rehab team in Azitao, Portugal. Jill feels that working at ARC allows her to offer her rehab skills to many more patients than she was previously able, and so many more animals will benefit from this important and developing field.
In her spare time, Jill likes horse riding, hill walking and cycling with family and friends in our beautiful surrounding Pennine hills, as well as swimming and practising yoga. When the opportunity arises, she loves to ski and travel too.
