Coping with loss of a limb
Coping with loss of a limb can pose different challenges in different circumstances, such as whether a fore or hindlimb is involved or whether the loss is very acute following serious injury for example, or planned over a slightly longer term such as chronic non healing injury or cancer.
The ARC team have experience in managing many different scenarios and are here to help both patient and owners in what are often deeply upsetting circumstances for all concerned.

We can help and advise with:
- Pain relief
- Mobilising and managing scars, hygromas and pressure sores
- Correct posture and gait to minimise long term issues
- Building and maintaining sufficient core strength to flourish as a tri-paw
- Regaining fitness
- Advice on suitable mobility aids such as harnesses, ramps and steps
- Managing aches, pains and mobility issues arising from long term adaptations
Most cats and dogs can adapt well post amputation and live a comfortable and fulfilling life. Please contact us to discuss how we can help you and your pet.
