Orthopaedic and Neurological

Our ARC team are perfectly placed to provide physiotherapy, pain management and rehabilitation treatment

Conservative Management of Orthopaedic and Neurological Conditions

Our pets are sophisticated, complicated living creatures and just like us, no single part of their bodies works in isolation completely separated from the rest. Sometimes this means that they sustain injuries or suffer diseases which cannot be repaired surgically, or where an operation is not possible or is not the best course of action.

Some examples might be because of another concurrent problem they also have such as heart or kidney disease makes an anaesthetic too high-risk, or they may have a condition or are on medication which affects healing such as diabetes, hyperadrenocorticism (Cushing’s syndrome,) blood clotting disorders or an immune mediated disease. Surgery is simply just not always the best solution for every patient or owner.

In situations like this, our ARC team are perfectly placed to provide physiotherapy, pain management and rehabilitation treatment to give your pet the best possible chances of recovering from or successfully managing their condition to get them comfortable and active again. We can help with restoring posture, balance, proprioception, gait training and core function to get back their stability both standing and moving.

We are here to examine and assess

Each pet’s case is unique and one-size rehab does not fit all! Sometimes trying to work out what is best for your pet is really hard when many conflicting opinions are posted all over the internet. Well-meaning but sometimes under-informed sources can be bewildering and unhelpful at best and downright dangerous and harmful at worst.

We are here to examine and assess your pet and advise on the best treatment for them. It can be a very long and difficult process to care for and guide pets through what can be slow recovery especially with spinal conditions, and we can help provide you with the knowledge, training and support you need for this journey together.

Customised rehabilitation program

Early intervention and a customised rehabilitation program can be absolutely critical to maximise recovery in some cases- particularly in puppies and kittens under approximately 6-7 months old and where a pet is suffering paralysis.
